Newlie Long

TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAMILY - My wife, Christy, and I met and married in New Orleans.  We have been married since 2004 and have three beautiful children: Wyatt, age eight; Ella Maria, age six and Isaac, age four.  Wyatt plays baseball and soccer. Ella Maria likes gymnastics and her dolls.  Isaac loves baseball, soccer, and his trucks.

WHERE WERE YOU BORN? - I was born in Melbourne, Fl and moved to Louisiana in my early twenties.  I enjoyed south Louisiana, with the exception of Katrina, being a resident of New Orleans at that time.  We are in the process of building our new home and look forward to many years living in it.

WHERE DID YOU GO TO SCHOOL? - I am a graduate of the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor's degree, and I received my Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO AWAY FROM MINISTRY? - Christy and I are both dog lovers and knew we wanted to breed dogs.  We got our first Great Dane and fell in love shortly after moving to Louisville.  The number has grown to 10 dogs!  We are in the process of building our dream home on 37 acres outside of town.  Room for us and our dogs to roam!  We enjoy sports, the beach and traveling to Disney World.  ChristY and I both love to cook, and we enjoy experimenting with different foods.  Being adventurous has paid off as all the kids love to eat sushi.  I also love to read, be out doors and fish and hunt.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT DOING MINISTRY AT FBC? - One of the greatest parts of my job is getting to be a part of the lives of our church members.

WHAT IS THE GREATEST SPIRITUAL TRUTH YOU HAVE DISCOVERED? - My greatest spiritual discovery is that God's grace can overcome anything in anyone's life.

TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT YOURSELF THAT MOST PEOPLE DON'T KNOW - Most people don'e know that my first name is Grover, as if Newlie wasn't unique enough.  I was named after my grandfather, Grover Cleveland Long.
